Travel insurance

General tips:

  1. Always take out insurance before travelling.
  2. Find a policy which suits your needs and takes into account the countries you are travelling in, and the types of activities in which you will engage. Alpha Travel has already done much of this work for you and offers Suresave as a comprehensive travel insurance cover.
  3. Credit Card travel insurance does not always offer a comprehensive cover. It is essential and your own responsibility that you discuss the cover in full with your credit card provider prior to departure. Always ask for a copy of the policy to ensure you are fully covered for any medical conditions.
  4. Pay close attention to clauses relating to accidents and medical cover.
  5. Take two copies of your policy with you, as proof that you are insured. Keep them in separate places in the event that one is lost or stolen.
  6. Write the name and telephone number of a trusted friend or family member on the copies of your policy - if you are incapacitated, a hospital may need to contact someone at home on your behalf.
